About Jamie
I realised very early on in my life that I have an interest in people. As a child I would speak with strangers that I met and this has grown into my passion for meeting and supporting anyone that needs my help. Throughout my working life I have met a variety of individuals from many walks of life and done whatever I could to support them through their struggles.

My first training in psychotherapy and counselling was completed at the University of Roehampton where I was awarded a Master's of Science. Throughout this course I engaged in my own personal therapy in order to gain a good understanding of myself and the difficulties I have experienced as well as to learn what it is like to be the client. I also have a Post-Graduate Diploma in Counselling Children and Diploma in Supervision from the Centre for Supervision Training and Development. I have been practising since 2011 and have seen a range of clients (both adults and young people) with difficulties ranging from neurodivergence, relationship troubles, anxiety and depression and drug and alcohol problems and severe childhood trauma. I have also spent the last two years managing a busy and growing generalist counselling service in North Bristol. My previous experience includes running group therapy sessions and therapeutic workshops for those estranged from their families and volunteering with a range of charities, from young people's bereavement to drug and alcohol to general mental health support. I have also been a telephone counsellor to unpaid carers in Bristol and ran a counselling service for carers in North Somerset.
My other qualifications include a BSc (Hons) in psychology from the University of Bristol and a qualification in community mental health awarded from City and Guilds and I take part in regular CPD as part of my registration with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.

Outside of psychotherapy and counselling I have worked for many years in various NHS mental health settings both in the community and inpatient hospitals. I left this work when I found I could no longer justify the lack of talking therapy available to the people I was working with and it was at this time that I began my psychotherapy training.
